A day in the life – Stephen Spencer

One of our core values is based on building trust.

Trust between colleagues, suppliers and customers alike. We believe that one of the key elements of building trust is in developing relationships, particularly being able to put a face to a name.

So in the coming weeks and months, we will feature members of the CDL team. These articles will not only demonstrate who we are as an employer, but will give you an insight into how we work as a business.

We hope you will enjoy these short, but sweet, articles about our great team.

Stephen Spencer – Assistant to Laptop Manager

Stephen is a self-proclaimed ‘lifer’ here at CDL, he has worked for the company just 1 ½ years but has already decided he wants to work here “for the rest of my life”.

Listening to Stephen, it’s obvious why he likes it so much. He likes the range of variety in his day, every day is different. He works on any and all departments helping out wherever is needed and learning as he goes.

From moving jobs around the warehouse, labouring, to helping in the various erasure departments, he will go where an extra pair of hands is needed.

What he loves the most about working at CDL is the feeling that he is making a difference to someone’s life. Recycling is something he feels passionate about and hopes that he is ‘doing his bit’ to support future generations by taking an active part in the recycling movement.

Not many challenges to his day because he just loves his job, but sometimes the paperwork end of the job can cause him frustration.

His upbeat and positive nature is so infectious and a great credit to him. He participated in a charity coast-to-coast bike ride from White Haven to Newcastle for Ovarian Cancer in 2019 and he plans to do more charity rides in the future. Watch this space.
