University of Cambridge – Customer Case Study

The University of Cambridge has been a CDL customer for over 5 years and during that time, has built a great working relationship with us.

The Project

The University needed someone to help them deal with their e-waste, and, as a research-intensive organisation, there was a lot of emphasis placed on the secure disposal of the data in the equipment.

In January 2020, the University went to tender for their IT disposal contract and CDL stood out amongst the suppliers.

What the customer said

Peter Lumb, from the University Environmental team, had this to say:

“From our point of view CDL stood out as being able to provide a quick and efficient service. With over 100 departments and over 370 buildings, we needed a supplier that was able to service a large estate. We have had a really good experience with CDL, they often go above and beyond the call of duty for us with their responsive service.”

One of the extra services that we provide to our clients is asset reporting. A comprehensive collection report is produced and either emailed or uploaded to our client portal, and this enables the client to access key information about their disposal whenever they need to.

Peter continues: “Obtaining information from our supply chain for our Annual Sustainability Report can be challenging, but with CDLs asset reporting system, we know that’s one supplier that makes life easier for us.”

CDL have carried out around 2,500 collections over 8 years for the university. Key account manager for the University, Lois Mercer, said “A happy customer makes us proud of the work we do in supporting sustainability and waste management.”
